Portazo Island Entry #6

With my stomach growling and the sun coming up my first goal was to get that wheat. I made a beeline for my farm as soon as I couldn't see any more of those beasts in the area. While harvesting I heard a hiss from behind and as I jumped the beast behind me exploded throwing me into the ocean and damaging the shoreline.

I tried my best to cover up the mess. After all, craters in an island make it look more like a war zone than a vacation hot spot.

Sick of the foul creatures I decided that I needed to find a way to tame one of these jungle cats. Not willing to offer myself as a treat I decided I would have to turn to my brothers in the ocean. I crafted a fishing line out of some sticks and the string from the webs in my old hideout and reluctabtly cast the line.

Apparently my brothers are a lot smarter than I give them credit for. Not a single bite, and before I knew it, night had fallen. In a frantic hurry I grabbed some charcoal from the wood I had burned all of last night and put together some makeshift torches. I frantically put together a perimeter of lights, much bigger than I had the previous night. After that, I took a moment to regain my composure. I decided the best thing to do would be to use all the time I could to start building a shelter.

I walked toward the chest where I had been stashing my supplies and found another one of the infernal green creatures trying to sneak into my pathetic camp. I drew my sword and used the same 'dash in, swing, retreat and repeat' tactics I used to kill the last few. This seems to work quite well. After the beast was killed I began to dig up an area to set out a foundation for my new shelter. I took some cobble I had from digging around in my old hideout and built as much of the foundation as I could.

However, I appear to be entirely out of cobble now. I didn't want to lay planks down to finish it, because I would have to tear it all back up again once I had more cobble. So I decided that now my best bet was the see if any of my brothers were up at this time of night and feeling a little hungry. Once again, I cast my line.

Just as I threw the line, I heard a noise and felt a whiz of air fly just past my head. Quickly I looked and saw a skeleton. Being already injured and taken by surprise I did my best to fend him off. Another arrow struck me and everything went black.

For as much of a beating as I've been taking on this island you'd think I would have been dead by now. I remember though waking up again on another part of the island in the dead of night. I looked through the jungle and saw some light. I figured this had to be my camp and headed that direction. When I returned I grabbed what I could off the ground and went looking for that skeleton.

I found him hiding near the shore and quickly sprinted at him with my sword and destroyed him. Still feeling furious I found a spider and rushed him. I looked around for more to kill but decided my best option was to wait for day and conserve energy. Once more, I cast the line.

With still no luck I noticed a skeleton swimming away from the island. Fire boiled inside me and I decided I would try to sneak up on him. He heard me slip as I went towards the shore and opened fire. I dived into the ocean below him and swung as fast and hard as I could underwater.

As he fell apart I collected some of his bones and decided to grind them up to use as fertilizer. As I walked toward my small farm I notice a badly burnt zombie wading in the water. He sluggishly moved about splashing himself.

I stood on the bay near him and let him climb onto the shore. A quick small cut with my sword left him dead. I suppose the sun left him rather weak. I took the fertilizer and spread it over the crops, then harvested all that was ready to be eaten and replanted and expanded my shoreline farm a bit. I went back to my camp and made some bread. I had enough to make exactly 6 loafs. Thinking about how rough these nights were beginning to get I crafted a ton of torches set out a larger brighter perimeter and then decided that I should collect some more cobble.

I grabbed a shovel and a dust dull stone pickaxe. I wasn't sure how long I would be gone, but I did plan on coming back. As a last minute thought, I decided to place some torches around my shoreline farm, to hopefully keep those blasted creatures from my crops. After this last minute preparation I decided to set off.

As I reached the other end of the island I decided to follow the shore back towards where I came from to see if there were any grottoes in the island with some exposed ores. I found a larger beach on the island that was crawling with pigs. Somehow, some of these pigs managed to climb up the trees in the area. I chuckled at the site and carried on, as daylight was quickly running out once again.

A little further along the shore I found a small grotto. With only ounce of precious daylight I decided to jump in and try to seal it off and mine through the night. Hopefully, it'll be a little safer in here.

Portazo Island Entry #5

At the beginning of this new day I took everything from my hideout and moved it outside so that I could bury the place. While it did serve me well it was hardly the kind of luxury home people hope to vacation at.

The day's project ended up being more work than I had thought and before I had even managed to lay a foundation for my new shelter night was upon me. I drew my iron sword and placed some torches out so I could see what was happening around me and used the furnace and some of the logs I collected to keep warm as I stayed up that night.

As I waited for day break I looked up at the stars and the clouds and the moon. They all looked so peaceful and carefree out here on Portazo Island.

I checked on my farm and noticed that I seemed to have some wheat ready for the harvest. It would have to wait though. It was far too cold, dark, and dangerous to wander over there alone. I looked back up to the sky and heard a faint hissing sound that was slowly getting closer. I looked and saw one of those creepy green beasts headed my way.

I quickly grabbed my sword and ran full sprint towards him and struck him with my sword. He bounced back and then continued toward me. Again I swung and noticed a nearby skeleton had taken interest in the fight. He headed towards me and quickly I swung a final killing blow at the green monster. His dying hiss seemed to grab the attention of a nearby zombie as well. I was quickly regretting burying my old hide out.

I focused on the tougher zombie trying my best to dodge the skeletons arrows. As he fell I ran toward the skeleton, taking a shot the the shoulder. I let out a cry which attracted the attention of another nearby skeleton. Frantically, I swung my sword at both of them until both of them were nothing more than a pile of bones. I regained my breath and bearings after that near death experience and returned to the warmth of my furnace, now a little more afraid of every sound around me.

I saw near the bay two more of these green monsters. I decided not to provoke them as I was beginning to feel really hungry and was in no condition to fight. Reluctantly I ate some of the flesh that had fallen of the zombie. It was a little chewy but I managed to get it down. The shear thought of what I had just eaten made me feel sick to me stomach.

Despite my best efforts to stay hidden from those two green creatures they eventually spotted me. I don't think they can see well in the light, but it appears as it the jungle cats had scared them off. Even just the small kitten. Unfortunately they scared them off into my direction. Trying to keep my distance from the two of them I did manage to dispatch both of the without either one violently exploding. I was impressed to find that those green things were afraid of the jungle cats. Perhaps I should try to make friends with a few of them so they'd help keep those green things away from me.

When I looked towards the sunrise, it seemed as if those creatures of the night had taken a liking to my farm. Hopefully the rising sun would drive them off so I can harvest my crops.
