Eldaria Entry #6

It looked like a small village. I couldn't see anybody out and about, but I figured there might be someplace safe to wait out the night there. I ran through the villager looking for a open door or place I might hide.

As I ran past one house I heard the door open and a few sets of hands grabbed me and pulled me inside. I looked to see three men staring at me.

"Are you alright?" the one in the white robe asked me. I nodded while catching my breath. "Why are you here? And how did you find us?" I stood up and leaned against a table, still panting for air. After a moment one of the other men grabbed a glass full of water and set it next to me. Without thinking I gulped the water down. I let out one last huge breath.

"I found a map and followed it here. It was hidden back behind a waterfall." The man in the white robe and the one that handed me the water both looked back at the third man reproachfully. The third man began to blush as he stepped back. "I'm here to fight the enderdragon. I was sent here to destroy him." The three man looked back at me. One of them chuckled.

"Good luck!" He then left the building shaking his head as if I was insane.

"You cannot defeat the enderdragon" The man in the white robe bluntly stated. "You are no where near prepared enough. We watched you land your boat here. We thought you wouldn't make it past the monsters in the forest. You do realize that the enderdragon controls an army of endermen and his realm is far more terrifying than the nether, correct? Fighting him won't be like killing a common spider, which we noticed you had trouble with even that." He ended with a smug smile.

"Well, I told the guy that sent me here the same thing, but him and his book seemed to think I could do it. So here I am."

"You have much to learn. But you seem tired, follow me and I will show you where you may stay." The white robed man then left the building, without even waiting for me. I hurried after him and he took me to a small hut at the edge of the village. "The last person who lived here was taken by the creature of the forest. Maybe that iron armor and sword you've got will help you see a better fate. Good night" The man then left me standing there in front of this tiny shack.

The door was nothing but a pile of splinters and some hinges, all covered in blood. It wasn't exactly inviting, but I stepped inside and put a few torches inside. Despite the strong scent of blood and obvious stains from it on the floor, I started to clean it up. After I had put in a furnace some torches and a bed, it turned into a nice and cozy home. I was out of wood, so I grabbed an axe and began to head towards the forest.

There was a small gravel path that lead into the forest, but it was too dark to go exploring now. I cut down one of the smaller trees and went back to my new 'home' and put up a door and began to sleep. The next morning I found the man in the white robe again. He seemed to be the leader here. I asked him about the path through the forest and he explained that the village used to be much bigger, and after relentless attacks this and another small portion was all that was left. He went on to tell me that this part of the town was where most of the food was grown and where the metals and stone were mined as well. The other is where the blacksmith lived. He said they'd have a small band of people bring food and ores to the blacksmith and the people in the other portion and they'd come back with weapons and armors for the people in this portion.

"Unfortunately, the last party we sent hasn't come back yet. And the mines are getting too dangerous to work in. They've become infested with the undead, much like the forest. I fear it may be coming to an end soon for our little village." The man dropped his eyes to the ground. After a moment his eyes lit up again "Maybe you could help? I don't know if the food ever made it to the other part of the village, but maybe you could bring them some."

"Sure, I can do that without a problem!"

"Excellent. Then go back to the house we pulled you into and collect that wheat, then follow the path through the forest."

I followed his instructions. When i got back to the path leading into the forest, it seemed only slightly less intimidating at day than it did at night.

I grabbed my sword and started down the path with a pack full of wheat. After about 15 minutes of walking I found a small pack of zombies.

One of them seemed to have an iron sword stuck through his chest, but the blood on it looked dry. I took my sword and attacked. One of them managed to put a dent into my helmet, but they weren't much trouble for me. I seemed to be getting better at this. I pulled the sword out of zombie, and swung it a few times. I seemed fairly sturdy, so I figured I'd hang onto to. I kept walking down the path, and surprisingly those zombies were the only thing close enough to it to be a threat. After a little while I found a small bridge.

By this point the path was getting over grown in many places, but the path lead to it. I kept following and eventually made it to the other section of the town.

I walked through the town and saw a few people. Eventually thought I found a man in a white apron. He seemed to be running the show here so I went to speak with him.

After I had explained to him that I was here to bring his village some food, he asked if I had run into any problems. I explained about the pack of zombies and the sword I found. He told me it looked like the work of their blacksmith and suggested I bring it and the ores to him.

"Uh, I don't have any ores..."

"What?" The man looked puzzled at me. "Well why not?"

"I guess the mines in the other village are getting infested with the undead or something."

"I see, well that makes yet another problem for us. The number of creature in the forest is getting out of hand, my guess is that sword belonged to the last group of people who were supposed to being us supplies. If our parties keep getting killed, we will starve and the other part of the town won't be able to get weapons. And now with the mines infested, surely we are doomed."

"Well, I've got some decent armor, maybe if your blacksmith could fix it up and sharpen my sword I could help."

"Really? That would be wonderful! Thank you adventurer! Here, follow me to the blacksmith's."

Eldaria Entry #5

I was still a little unsettled by the fact that somehow an enderman had not only gotten into my shelter, but also into my dreams. As a result I decided it was time to make a more secure base. I found a nearby mountain and begun to dig up into it. After some work I had hollowed out a large potion of the mountain. After which I put in some flooring and chests along with a few bits of furniture and my new more secure base was ready.

I stepped outside to get a look at it.

I think that it was safe to say that this was a fairly inconspicuous hideout. Feeling safe that my belongings wouldn't be tampered with in my absence, I decided to set out and get the search for the portal in full force.

There was one river left that I hadn't search yet. It was on the other end of the plain, so I figured it was far enough from the others that it would lead someplace new. I pushed my boat off the sand into the water and set sail once more. This river was a lot wider and open than the others, and right after I had passed the first mountain I had found a massive waterfall.

I swam over to it and found a small opening. The waters were moving too fast for me to mine and open it up anymore. I reached in and felt around. I felt some sort of cylinders inside. I grabbed the three of them and pulled the out. They were rolled up bits of parchment. I looked at them and they were very clearly a map. But they seemed hastily drawn. While looking at them I noticed they seemed to follow the river I was on. I stuffed them inside my shirt to keep them from getting wet, and swam back to my boat. I pulled out the maps and began to follow the crudely drawn landmarks. After a bit the river opened into the ocean, but I could see on the map and in the horizon an island. As I drew nearer I could tell something was strange about the island.

The land looks like it was covered in some sort of purple fuzz and it looked like there was gigantic mushrooms on it. I decided to step on shore and investigate further.

I walked around for a while and eventually decided this weird purple fuzz covering the ground was some sort of fungus. As I stepped I could see dozen of tiny spore forming small clouds. I checked out some of the giant mushrooms and decided to try to take a few samples with me. The middle of a strange foreign place wasn't the area to be eating strange mushrooms. I stuffed them into my pack and labeled them reminding me to investigate them further later. I was still puzzled by this area so I went on to investigate further. I found a large hole that might have had something to do with it.

But I could see some bare stone in places. It was almost looked as if somebody had been mining here, but for a really long time. And a little bit away I found something else rather interesting. It looked like a large explosion had happened there some time ago.

I'm not exactly sure what happened, but one thing was for sure. There were no survivors. Not even traces that human life had ever been there. I could see the sun beginning to set and I figure this mysterious island wouldn't be a good place to be once night hit. I ran back the the shore where I left my boat and jumped back in. I rowed around the island and continued to follow the map.

Eventually I found two tall sharp mountains. I could see them on the map and they were thankfully close to the map's destination.

I kept sailing and I could see barely an island in the distance. This had to be where the map was leading me. I rowed toward it even faster as the sun fell through the sky. I knew there was no way I'd make it ashore before nightfall.

As I got closer I noticed the moon coming up and figured there was no sense in getting ashore now.

I rowed around the island a little bit looking for a good place to land int he morning and I saw something that caught my eye.

There seemed to be a light. Maybe there was a safe place for me to hide after all. Not wanting to be on this boat anymore. I found a safe place to land.

It wasn't until I hit the shore that I noticed the trees on this island were huge. They must have been thousands of years old. I could see a small light peaking through the trees. I headed in that direction and I found something better than I had hoped for. It appeared to be a small village.

Eldaria Entry #4

I stepped into the cave. Almost instantly it opened up into a a room with a handful of smaller passages to follow.

Only one path was already lit, so I took that as a sign and started to follow it. After a while I saw the light was coming from a pool of lava. I turned around and followed another path. That one turned out to be a dead end but I found some iron. With the amount of ores in my pack I decided the stop here and stark a small camp.

I grabbed some stone from my pack and built a wall. Using some of the wood I brought I made a work table and a furnace. I also made a door for the room and put some torches up as well.

I shovels some coal and ores into the furnace and sat on the chest and snacked on some more bread while I waited. Once they were done I stuffed the ingots into my pack and set back out. I found a large circular passage. Is seemed really strange and darker that the others. I looked down it and saw glowing purple eyes staring right at me.

The eyes began to glow brightly as I heard that ever familiar unearthly howl. I looked away, keeping those eyes only in my peripheral vision. I blinked and the figure was gone. I notice a trail of dim purple lights going further down the cave. That could only mean two things. Either that direction was the portal I was looking for, or there was a way out. Cautiously I walked through the circular cave, torch in hand. The darkness seemed strangely resilient here. The torch light was barely able to pierce it. I couldn't see more than a few feet in front of me. I threw a torch ahead of myself as I lit and held a second. The thrown torch landed on the stone and I could see brilliant yellow and red sparkling.

I mined out the gold and redstone. I'm sure they'll be useful for something. As I continued down the path the darkness became so intense that I couldn't see even with the aid of a torch.

I stumbled blindly in the dark and after a moment the darkness began to thin out again. On the other side I found a very welcome sight.

Now with some diamonds I could make some stronger sharper tools. That is, if I could ever get home. I continued down the cave. I walked for hours through the winding cave and eventually found a large opening.

I could see tree and the star lit sky. I put out my torch and sheathed my sword. I pulled my pack tighter to my back and took in a deep breath. I could taste the cold night air coming in from above. Slowly, I climbed up and out of the hole. When I reached the surface I scanned the area quickly. It was familiar. I could see the hole I fell in before and the lake that was just behind my house. I drew my sword once more and lit another torch, and after another quick scan of the nearby trees and bushes, I made a run for my home. As I reached the edge of the lake, I saw a creeper headed straight for me, rather than fight I sheathed my sword once more. I turned to the creeper and threw the torch into his face and dived into the lake. I swam to the bottom quickly and continued swimming until I reach the other side. I climbed up on shore and looked behind me to see the torch laying on the floor, and the creeper curiously looking for me. My distraction worked perfectly. I walked towards my house and jumped the fence. Once I got inside I dropped my pack on the floor and dove into my bed.

That night I had what could only be described as a dream, but it was something more. I heard strange sounds almost like a gurgling noise. And I saw a land full of endermen. But it wasn't a land. It was a island. Floating in a starless black sky. The island had tall pillars of black stone and the ground was made of discolored white material. One of the enderman turned and looked at me. His eyes glowed brighter than I've seen ever before. The purple light was enchanting in a way. I felt compelled to step towards him. As I walked to him, he met my steps. As he got closer his eyes  got brighter and everything else began to fade from sight. I began to hear whispers. I couldn't make any of them out. Some sounded like they were in my tongue, and others sounded like the language of the endermen. He moved closer and the whispers grew louder. But it seemed as if they were focusing. As he took each step the eyes got brighter and the whispers slowly dwindled down to just two voices. One speaking in my tongue and the other in ender. I began to panic. My subconscious was struggling to wake me. The enderman grabbed my shoulder and a voice spoke to me.

"Do not worry" it gently said. I could still hear the gurgling language of the endermen overlapping this calmer voice. "This one wishes you no harm. Close your eyes."

I listened. After a moment my nostrils filled with a familiar scent of grass and I could feel wind blowing on me and grass beneath me feet. I opened my eyes. A single enderman stood before me.

"This one has come to enlighten you. We have seen you take notice of us."

I stood trembling as the enderman stepped closer. I could see between his two long black arms a rose gently floating.

"This one wishes to tell you why we are in your land. Will you hear this one?"

"Y-y-yes." I stammered. The enderman stepped closer to me as he began to speak once more.

"We have come to understand your world. You have seen ours. In our world we have no such thing as colors. We do not have what you call grass or wind or trees. We have come to understand what you call beauty. But we do not wish to have your world." I stood there and after a moment mustered the courage to speak up to him.

"Then why have your kind attacked me? Multiple times! You knocked me unconscious a few times!"

"Yes," He stated abruptly, "But, we have never killed you. Your kind does not understand who or what we are. The closest word in your tongue would be explorers or scientists. We do not wish you to know of our presence, we simply wish to understand." I stood speechless as he went on "This one knows why you're here as well. You wish the kill the enderdragon."

"Yes. That is why I was sent here."

"This one knows. And this one, and others wish to help you. The enderdragon was the one who banished color and life from our land. Which is why we come to yours. Over eons we have forgotten these things, but because we have forgotten these things we have gained other knowledges."

"Like what?"

"We have learned how to travel through through space and time. We have learned how to connect our thoughts. We have learned everything and forgotten everything. We are the beginning and the end." I stared puzzled as the enderman stepped closer once more. "Let this one teach you something before you go."

"Before I go?" I questioned "I didn't really have much choice in coming here, what makes you think I've got a choice in leaving?"

The enderman stepped closer "You are asleep. This one has come to you, for this one seeks to pass on knowledge from the end. Some of us have been able to take bits from your world and craft them into orbs. Pearls. Pearls full of life, of death, of beginnings, and of ends. Those of use who wish to help you, will leave them behind for you. But we cannot give them to you, or the enderdragon may learn of our quest to help you."

"Okay, that's great, but what exactly do you hope for me to do with these pearls?"

"This one will tell you. You must first focus while holding the pearl. Focus on being nowhere and everywhere. Focus on being nothing and everything. Then throw the pearl and close your eyes. When you open them you will find yourself closer to your destination."

"That's... Wow, that's actually really cool. Can you give me one now?"

"This one already has." The enderman nodded to my hand and I saw a odd green colored orb in my hand "But be careful with them. This knowledge was not meant for your kind. Use them sparingly, or you may forget all things you know, and become part of the end." The enderman took one final step towards me opened his eyes wider filling the night sky with purple stars as the flower gently floated to the ground in front of me.

I suddenly woke in my bed. I looked around and ran outside. The sun was coming up.

I shook my head and tried to explain to myself the entire thing was a dream. When I stepped back inside my house though, sitting on the chest, was a rose, and that strange green orb.

Eldaria Entry #3

All of these underwater caves were beginning to get annoying. It seemed as if something didn't want me to find the portal to the enderdragon's dimension. After a second my eyes adjusted to the light and I could see plenty of iron in the cave. Perhaps this was a good thing. As I was mining I noticed lots of little small passages.

One passage in particular seemed like it shadows moving around inside. I decided to investigate and dug stairs up into the passageway. As I stepped into the cave my scales began to crawl. I squinted and saw the dark outline of something sitting up against the wall.

It sat still in the dark. I grabbed a torch and began to inch closer to the object. as the light filled the room I noticed cobble and chests. It looked as if somebody had hidden here. There was no blood on the walls or floor so whoever was here probably made it out safe. I checked the chests and found some redstone, a bucket, and some dried wheat. I stuffed it into my pack and turned back around.

I swam up through the passageway I fell through and climbed back into my boat. I started to row further down the river.

I spent almost the whole night rowing. It seemed as if the monster didn't care much for the water. I figured my safest option was to just stay in the boat and away from land until sunrise.

Eventually I followed the river right past the desert I saw before. I couldn't see into it because of the mountains, and for the same reason I decided to keep going down the river.

I began to see huge trees in the horizon. The smell of mud and mushrooms began to hit my nose. I rowed deeper into the marsh.

My find were beginning to get sore from rowing all night so I decided to continue exploring on foot. I found a safe place to step out of my boat and climbed onto land.

I walked around and began to climb the mountains. I made it to the top of one of these mountains just as the sun was rising.

As the sun came up I could see all the creatures of the night fleeing back to the dark places they came from. However I did noticed that the endermen weren't running. Even stranger, they didn't seem afraid of the sun. Each one in unison turned and looked at the sun. In some sort of strange unison, each one turned away from the sun and began to grab things. One grabbed a pile of sand from the beach. Another collected leaves from a tree. I saw other grabbing flowers and grass. As each one collected something, there was a black blur and then they disappeared, leaving behind strange purple sparks of light.

With the sun coming up I decided to head back to my shelter and empty my pack. I went back down to the shore and climbed back into my boat. I rowed through the marsh again and as I was almost out, my boat was tugged by something beneath the water. As the boat rocked water began to splash in. I let go of the oars and grabbed a buckets. As I picked it up I noticed one of the oars get sucked into the water. I looked over the side of the boat and saw darkness beneath the water. The current was pulling downward I slipped and fell into the water. With the current pulling me down I frantically grabbed the boat trying not to get pulled in. The boat began the turn and fill with water. Soon the boat was so full that I was sucked into the marshes water along with my boat. I closed my eyes and heard the boat hit something just before I landed once again on cold damp stone.

I looked up and could see the daylight barely breaking the water.

Exhausted and trapped. I decided to rest here. I pushed the boat up against the wall and began to nod off. When I awoke it was still day light. Without a clock I wasn't sure how long I slept. I sat up and grabbed some bread from my pack. As I nibbled on it I looked at my boat. It was too heavy to get back up to the surface. Even  if I could get it back up, it was too waterlogged to float anymore. I decided to leave it there and with the rest and some food I was feeling strong enough to swim back up. I swam to the surface and immediately got out of the marsh water. I climbed onto land and began heading the direction I thought my shelter might have been. After a while I found myself lost. I was in a thin forest. I started to look for any sign that could direct me in the right direction. And then I saw a patch of pumpkins.

Each one was facing the same direction with the same eerie face carved into them. I looked the direction they were looking and didn't see anything of interest. I wasn't sure what else to do, so I simply shrugged and headed the way the pumpkins were looking. I climbed up a mountain that was that way and from the top of it barely in the distance I could see my shelter.

I climbed down the mountain and began to run toward my house. I was ready to climb into my bed and empty my pack. As I ran I stopped sharply. I nearly  fell straight into a hole.

I looked down. If I had fell there was a very slim chance that I would have lived. As I was pondering my near death experience, I heard a hissing from behind me. Before I could turn a deafening explosion happened. I was thrown into the hole. I grasped frantically at the sides of the hole. About halfway down I caught a rock barely. There was no way for me to climb back up from here. I could see below my some more foot holds and places I could hold onto. I decided my only option was down. Gradually I decided and once I reached the floor I saw a passage into the earth. With no other option. I stepped in.
