Eldaria Entry #1

Miles of oceans and endless days on sea couldn't erase the name of my destination from my mind. Eldaria. After some time relaxing on Portazo Island, one of the people pulled me aside.

The day wasn't special in any way. Just some rain and clouds. He led me through a part of the jungle I had replanted. At first I thought he was going to have me follow him into the nether. But he stopped just at the other edge of the jungle. In a very hushed tone he asked me to be quiet about this. I nodded silently, partially intrigued and partially confused. He looked around for a moment and after making sure nobody was watching, he pushed aside some grass and flipped a lever. There was a short moment before the noise of grinding stone was heard. I watched as part of the hill opened up. The person motioned for me to go in. Reluctantly I obeyed and stepped in.  I found a small collection of books. Many of them seemed to be written in a strange language. But in the center of the room was something that caught my eye. A large brown book was sitting on an obsidian pedestal. As I approached it I could feel the book pulling something from myself and it began to hover.

The grinding of stone was heard again and I looked. The man followed me in and shut the path behind me. He warned me not to stand too close to the book in the center of the room. He explained that the book was magic and fed on knowledge and experience. He quickly scanned the room and the books on the shelves. After a few moments he pulled one of the shelf.

"Look, the book is blank," he stated blandly, "The book in center of this room draws on the knowledge from anything it can. Someday all these books will be drained of knowledge and completely blank." He tossed the book into a pile in the corner of the room. I stared cautiously at the book as the man stepped up to it. The book began to hover. The mans eyes began to lose their color. The turned entirely white. After a moment they lost their shine as the man stared into the book. Letters and and symbols began to run through his eyes.

He then spoke to me. His voice was now dull and emotionless. "Eldaria, brave fish. This is where you must go. You have proven your bravery here-"

I interrupted "Proven my bravery? What? I built a casino. I passed out when a skeleton attacked me. I'm lucky to still be alive!"

The man continued, "Yet, you prevailed."

"Barely..." I mumbled under my breath. I was still a little sore that the casino wasn't as profitable as I had hoped. Tuns out people were spending their entire life's saving just to get here.

"You must go there, to Eldaria and fight the Enderdragon."

"The ender what?"

"The Enderdragon."

"No. Yeah, I got that, but you want me to fight a dragon? Are you nuts?"

"You will prevail brave fish. His domain is not in this world, however, he has a portal hidden somewhere in the islands of Eldaria. Go and find this portal, and destroy the Enderdragon." The letters and symbols int he mans eyes began to fade.

"Why should I go and do this? Wait, don't stop doing that weirdo eye thing!" Just like that the man snapped out of this trance. I stared at him slightly in awe and a little annoyed at not getting my answers. The man looked back at me and asked what he had said in his trance.

"I don't know, you were gibbering about about some islands and something about a dragon. Not happening, now if you'll excuse me I need to get back the the craps table. I've been winning all day."

"Wait!" The man yelled, "A dragon? Surely this dragon will have vast amounts of treasure! And who knows? There could be people there that need your help!"

"Well, I like the idea of treasure, but I don't think I know enough to track down this dragon. Is there anything you can tell me?" The man stood for a second. He looked back at the book and and grabbed the corners of the pedestal it was on again. He waited for a moment and read what he could for the book. His brow began to sweat. After a moment he left go.

"The book won't tell me anything. But I could teach you a few things."

"Like what?" I replied sarcastically.

"Well, I know a bit about redstone. Oh! And I know how to make wood keep its color when you chop it up."

"I hardly think that's enough to slay a dragon"

"I could also teach you how to make another book like this one, and how to use it as well. It can teach you a lot. And if you practice enough, you can even take the knowledge from the book and put it into weapons and armors to give them magical powers."

"Okay, that sounds really helpful. And I'm sure those magic weapons would sell for a bunch. Let's do this. Teach me what you can."

After a few days the man had taught me everything he could. He even wrote a small book full of hints and tips and things to remember. He told me to remember these things and to read through the book again and again while sailing. That night I climbed into a boat and sailed off as the people of Portazo Island waved goodbye. Hopefully that wouldn't be the last I'd see of that island.

After weeks of sailing I finally landed where we thought one of the Islands of Eldaria would be. I stepped off the shore and into the island a little more and got an idea of my surroundings.

The mountains on this island were huge and the forests were thick. I had a feeling I was in the right place. I turned back to my boat only to find a creeper sitting inside of it. He looked straight at me with a strange sort of amusement in his eyes and exploded. I'm still not sure what sort of evolutionary chain decided that was the best self defense. With my supplies ruined I decided it was time to get to work. I began to cut down trees and noticed something about the island. All these big mountains and thick forests meant there was a lot of darkness, and darkness meant one thing.

Monsters. Even in morning these things were brave enough to crawl around. However the watched me from the shade and the shadows. Unsure of how brave these things were, I kept my distance. I didn't want one of these things thinking a few burns from the sun was worth a fishy dinner. After I had collected enough logs to make a small house I decided to so some exploring. I went through one of the mountain arches and found a large plain on the other side.

There was barely any grass and a few sparse trees. It's as if somebody wanted something built here. I didn't have enough material to fill up this plain with massive structures, so I decided to simply see how far it was and get as deep into the island as I could. When I reached the other side of the plain, I found a small body of water, with a few rivers leading into it. I decided that just on the edge of this lake would be a good place to build. As I was building though, something in the lake caught my eye.

I swam in closer to see what it was. Coal! Perfect! I quickly put together a pickaxe with the wood I had and mined it up, scooping as much as I could out of the water.

As I turned around I could see the sunset coming. I quickly ran back and continued to build my shelter.

As the sky grew almost pitch black I realized I was out of wood. I back into the corner of my house and grabbed me small wooden sword. I watched the monsters all searching for something to eat in the pale moon light. One skeleton found my shelter and began to approach. I stood perfectly still hoping he wouldn't notice me. After a moment, the skeleton walked away.

I ran into the other corned of my house and sat down, and waited the entire night out. The next morning I looked outside and saw that all the undead had cleared and there was nothing but spiders in the field. The seemed so tame and docile now in the sunlight. I walked up to one and he blinked curiously at me. After a moment her turned around and walked away.

I found behind my house a skeleton that found some shade under a tree.

I spent the entirety of that day collecting more wood, mainly from birch trees and looking for wool. after I had found enough wool and wood I headed back to my shelter. As I turned around I noticed the sun coming up. Somehow I had lost track of time and was collecting wood all night. I squinted at the rising sun and saw an enderman standing there. He stared at me and his jaw slowly opened up as he let out that horrid unearthly howl. As the sun rose, he disappeared. Great, I thought to myself, now the endermen know I'm here. Even worse. Now the enderdragon knows I'm here.

As he disappeared I returned to my shelter and finished it up. I did what the man told me to do with the wood and surprisingly it kept its color. I looked at my shelter after completing it. That trick with the wood won't be any help with the enderdragon, but at least my shelter will look good as he burns it down.

Now with my shelter complete, I needed to start finding some iron to make better tools and weapons with. I also need to locate the portal to the enderdragon's domain. I looked around and saw two options. The first was to search the direction of the rivers feeding into the lake.

My second option, was to cross the lake and search what looked like a desert on the other side, far in the distance.

Unsure of which was to go, I began to tend to my farm again, as I thought about the two options.

    1. You're in luck mate! I collected some feed back and such from multiple places and nobody seemed interested in the desert, so I went down the rivers. Found some neat stuff! New post sometime soonish... Next few hours more then likely!
