Eldaria Entry #5

I was still a little unsettled by the fact that somehow an enderman had not only gotten into my shelter, but also into my dreams. As a result I decided it was time to make a more secure base. I found a nearby mountain and begun to dig up into it. After some work I had hollowed out a large potion of the mountain. After which I put in some flooring and chests along with a few bits of furniture and my new more secure base was ready.

I stepped outside to get a look at it.

I think that it was safe to say that this was a fairly inconspicuous hideout. Feeling safe that my belongings wouldn't be tampered with in my absence, I decided to set out and get the search for the portal in full force.

There was one river left that I hadn't search yet. It was on the other end of the plain, so I figured it was far enough from the others that it would lead someplace new. I pushed my boat off the sand into the water and set sail once more. This river was a lot wider and open than the others, and right after I had passed the first mountain I had found a massive waterfall.

I swam over to it and found a small opening. The waters were moving too fast for me to mine and open it up anymore. I reached in and felt around. I felt some sort of cylinders inside. I grabbed the three of them and pulled the out. They were rolled up bits of parchment. I looked at them and they were very clearly a map. But they seemed hastily drawn. While looking at them I noticed they seemed to follow the river I was on. I stuffed them inside my shirt to keep them from getting wet, and swam back to my boat. I pulled out the maps and began to follow the crudely drawn landmarks. After a bit the river opened into the ocean, but I could see on the map and in the horizon an island. As I drew nearer I could tell something was strange about the island.

The land looks like it was covered in some sort of purple fuzz and it looked like there was gigantic mushrooms on it. I decided to step on shore and investigate further.

I walked around for a while and eventually decided this weird purple fuzz covering the ground was some sort of fungus. As I stepped I could see dozen of tiny spore forming small clouds. I checked out some of the giant mushrooms and decided to try to take a few samples with me. The middle of a strange foreign place wasn't the area to be eating strange mushrooms. I stuffed them into my pack and labeled them reminding me to investigate them further later. I was still puzzled by this area so I went on to investigate further. I found a large hole that might have had something to do with it.

But I could see some bare stone in places. It was almost looked as if somebody had been mining here, but for a really long time. And a little bit away I found something else rather interesting. It looked like a large explosion had happened there some time ago.

I'm not exactly sure what happened, but one thing was for sure. There were no survivors. Not even traces that human life had ever been there. I could see the sun beginning to set and I figure this mysterious island wouldn't be a good place to be once night hit. I ran back the the shore where I left my boat and jumped back in. I rowed around the island and continued to follow the map.

Eventually I found two tall sharp mountains. I could see them on the map and they were thankfully close to the map's destination.

I kept sailing and I could see barely an island in the distance. This had to be where the map was leading me. I rowed toward it even faster as the sun fell through the sky. I knew there was no way I'd make it ashore before nightfall.

As I got closer I noticed the moon coming up and figured there was no sense in getting ashore now.

I rowed around the island a little bit looking for a good place to land int he morning and I saw something that caught my eye.

There seemed to be a light. Maybe there was a safe place for me to hide after all. Not wanting to be on this boat anymore. I found a safe place to land.

It wasn't until I hit the shore that I noticed the trees on this island were huge. They must have been thousands of years old. I could see a small light peaking through the trees. I headed in that direction and I found something better than I had hoped for. It appeared to be a small village.
