As I ran past one house I heard the door open and a few sets of hands grabbed me and pulled me inside. I looked to see three men staring at me.
"Are you alright?" the one in the white robe asked me. I nodded while catching my breath. "Why are you here? And how did you find us?" I stood up and leaned against a table, still panting for air. After a moment one of the other men grabbed a glass full of water and set it next to me. Without thinking I gulped the water down. I let out one last huge breath.
"I found a map and followed it here. It was hidden back behind a waterfall." The man in the white robe and the one that handed me the water both looked back at the third man reproachfully. The third man began to blush as he stepped back. "I'm here to fight the enderdragon. I was sent here to destroy him." The three man looked back at me. One of them chuckled.
"Good luck!" He then left the building shaking his head as if I was insane.
"You cannot defeat the enderdragon" The man in the white robe bluntly stated. "You are no where near prepared enough. We watched you land your boat here. We thought you wouldn't make it past the monsters in the forest. You do realize that the enderdragon controls an army of endermen and his realm is far more terrifying than the nether, correct? Fighting him won't be like killing a common spider, which we noticed you had trouble with even that." He ended with a smug smile.
"Well, I told the guy that sent me here the same thing, but him and his book seemed to think I could do it. So here I am."
"You have much to learn. But you seem tired, follow me and I will show you where you may stay." The white robed man then left the building, without even waiting for me. I hurried after him and he took me to a small hut at the edge of the village. "The last person who lived here was taken by the creature of the forest. Maybe that iron armor and sword you've got will help you see a better fate. Good night" The man then left me standing there in front of this tiny shack.
The door was nothing but a pile of splinters and some hinges, all covered in blood. It wasn't exactly inviting, but I stepped inside and put a few torches inside. Despite the strong scent of blood and obvious stains from it on the floor, I started to clean it up. After I had put in a furnace some torches and a bed, it turned into a nice and cozy home. I was out of wood, so I grabbed an axe and began to head towards the forest.
There was a small gravel path that lead into the forest, but it was too dark to go exploring now. I cut down one of the smaller trees and went back to my new 'home' and put up a door and began to sleep. The next morning I found the man in the white robe again. He seemed to be the leader here. I asked him about the path through the forest and he explained that the village used to be much bigger, and after relentless attacks this and another small portion was all that was left. He went on to tell me that this part of the town was where most of the food was grown and where the metals and stone were mined as well. The other is where the blacksmith lived. He said they'd have a small band of people bring food and ores to the blacksmith and the people in the other portion and they'd come back with weapons and armors for the people in this portion.
"Unfortunately, the last party we sent hasn't come back yet. And the mines are getting too dangerous to work in. They've become infested with the undead, much like the forest. I fear it may be coming to an end soon for our little village." The man dropped his eyes to the ground. After a moment his eyes lit up again "Maybe you could help? I don't know if the food ever made it to the other part of the village, but maybe you could bring them some."
"Excellent. Then go back to the house we pulled you into and collect that wheat, then follow the path through the forest."
I followed his instructions. When i got back to the path leading into the forest, it seemed only slightly less intimidating at day than it did at night.
I grabbed my sword and started down the path with a pack full of wheat. After about 15 minutes of walking I found a small pack of zombies.
One of them seemed to have an iron sword stuck through his chest, but the blood on it looked dry. I took my sword and attacked. One of them managed to put a dent into my helmet, but they weren't much trouble for me. I seemed to be getting better at this. I pulled the sword out of zombie, and swung it a few times. I seemed fairly sturdy, so I figured I'd hang onto to. I kept walking down the path, and surprisingly those zombies were the only thing close enough to it to be a threat. After a little while I found a small bridge.
By this point the path was getting over grown in many places, but the path lead to it. I kept following and eventually made it to the other section of the town.
I walked through the town and saw a few people. Eventually thought I found a man in a white apron. He seemed to be running the show here so I went to speak with him.
After I had explained to him that I was here to bring his village some food, he asked if I had run into any problems. I explained about the pack of zombies and the sword I found. He told me it looked like the work of their blacksmith and suggested I bring it and the ores to him.
"Uh, I don't have any ores..."
"What?" The man looked puzzled at me. "Well why not?"
"I guess the mines in the other village are getting infested with the undead or something."
"I see, well that makes yet another problem for us. The number of creature in the forest is getting out of hand, my guess is that sword belonged to the last group of people who were supposed to being us supplies. If our parties keep getting killed, we will starve and the other part of the town won't be able to get weapons. And now with the mines infested, surely we are doomed."
"Well, I've got some decent armor, maybe if your blacksmith could fix it up and sharpen my sword I could help."
"Really? That would be wonderful! Thank you adventurer! Here, follow me to the blacksmith's."
