Portazo Island Entry #3

During the night in my newly found hide out I decided clean up the place a bit. I managed to make some string out of the cobwebs and found a few bits of log that didn't seem vital to the support of the room. After I finished cleaning up, I looked outside and saw it was still night.I could hear the creatures walking around outside and decided my only option was to wait the night out. I was too injured to continue exploring and I was beginning to feel hungry weak from hunger. I ate the only bit of food that was still good from my ship. I scarfed down the apple, which wasn't very filling. My stomach growled as if begging for more food. I took a risk and ate some of the rotted food from my boat. Not surprisingly I began to fill sick shortly after.

At sunrise I continued to level the area some more. After I had run out of dirt, I decided to collect some more wood. I was getting bored of digging. While I was cutting down the trees in the area and clearing the underbrush, I managed to find a few strange looking apples. They looked like they were adapted to grow in the jungle. I pocketed the remembering how unpleasant the rotten flesh was to eat and figured that these couldn't be any worse. At night fall I quickly ran back to my hideout to wait out yet another night. Tomorrow's goal will be starting a mine so I can get some better quality tools, gather more dirt, and then to find some sheep to sheer so I can make some blankets so I'd have a comfortable bed.

During the night in my hideout I salvaged some more of the wood from the rooms walls. Behind one of the wooden panels I saw some coal and figured there might be some more useful minerals in the area. I begun to dig around in the corner of the room. While digging around I did managed to find a small amount of iron. With only 4 bits of ore, I know I wouldn't have a whole lot of iron for new tools. I needed to choose carefully what I wanted to make. I built a crude furnace out of some of the stone I gathered while mining and smelted the 4 bits using some planks as fuel. After much thought I decided to craft a pair of shears, to gather wool, and a sword, to protect myself incase I found myself in danger.

As I left my hideout that morning I found a large spider wandering around. Although he seemed harmless I decided it was best to dispatch him, remembering his small venomous cousin from the other day. As I begun looking for sheep, I found another one of these enormous spiders. I figured the island wouldn't miss him either and attacked him.

After slaying this spider, I noticed a tall black figure, that seemed to be watching me. As I turned I looked directly at him, trying to figure out what it was. The figured stared right back at me, making perfect eye contact. His jaw opened wide and he left out a terrifying sound. It sounded almost as if he was screaming, but it didn't sound like anything from this world. The noise was unsettling, but not as much as his unblinking purple eyes.

I stood there staring at him. Keeping perfect eye contact as the figure continued to let out its unearthly howl. After a moment I figured he wasn't interested in me, so I started to look away. Just as I broke eye contact, he disappeared. I grabbed my sword out of instinct, worried where it might have gone. I heard a strange noise and felt cold breath go down my spine. I turned and saw the black figure standing there. He struck me and as I stumbled backwards, he disappeared leaving weird black and purple dust behind. Terrified I began to run. Again the figure appeared and struck me. This time he had landed a blow straight to my head. I slumped to the floor as my vision slowly faded away. I awoke hours later on another part of the island. I noticed I had none of my belongings, so I decided to try to return to where I was attacked by that black figure. After some searching I had found my belongings scattered about the ground. It looked as if the tall black figure had search through through them. I picked them all up and after a quick count noticed that not only did the strange figure take nothing, but he was also gone. I looked around to see if I could find the figure that had attacked me. After a moment, I figured he was gone and continued my search for some sheep. Only a little bit away from where I was I had found a few.

I sheered a couple of the sheep and stuffed the wool into my pack and started to head back to my hide out. On the way back I found a pig trapped in some of the underbrush of the jungle

I quickly cut the branches away and freed the poor creature. He looked too injured and sickly to release into the wild. As I am not a veterinarian I decided to put him out of his misery. I also collected what small portions of his flesh were suitable for food, waste not, want not. I then used what little dirt I had collected mining in my hideout last night to level out the area and then began to search the island for a suitable location to begin a mine. As the sun set, I headed back to my hideout, feeling disappointed. I wasn't able to find an area that looked like it would make a good mine. When I got back I used the wool I had collected to make a blanket and a small pillow and used some planks to put together a bed frame. It wasn't the best bed I had ever seen, but it would be better than sleeping on the cold stone floors of my hide out. I climbed into the bed and had my first comfortable night's sleep in the unforgiving jungle of Portazo Island.
