The rest of the day however was remarkably uneventful. I spent most of it clearing out the trees and underbrush around my hideout. At night fall once again I returned to my hideout. The next morning I decided to make an axe out of some of the stone I had mined and cook the pork from the pig I had freed. I ate the pork for a quick breakfast and set out once again. I decided to climb to the top of one of the massive trees in the jungle and cut it down. The work of cutting the tree down had left my axe pretty dull and worked up an appetite. I sat down and ate a few of the apples I had found in the jungle. They were actually pretty tasty. I was starting to feel bad about slaughtering that pig I had freed. I decided to gather some seeds and start a small wheat farm on the oceans edge.
After planting the seeds I ran back to my hideout and continued to clear the area until sunset, at which pint I returned to my bed for another nights sleep. I'm starting to get a little bit cozy on this island. The next day I made a stone shovel and went to check the progress of my farm. From the way it was looking, I should have some crops for harvest by tomorrow night.
I returned the the area I've been working at and dug up some of the top soil to continue to level the area. While wandering around I did manage to hear what sounded like a group of skeletons. I couldn't see them and figured I would have noticed them if they were someplace that'd be dangerous. I made a mental note of the area to be careful while digging, at least until I had some suitable armor.
Again around night fall I went to bed and continued to clear the underbrush, chop down trees and level the area making it suitable to build on the next day. With a few shovels and much haste I was able to collect almost enough dirt to finish leveling the area. I went once more the check my farm and unfortunately, still none of my crop seemed ready for harvest. Just a little longer, I'm sure.
I leveled as much as I could with what little sunlight was left and returned to my hide out for what would hopefully be the last night. By tomorrow night I should have Portazo Island's first building in a long while.
I have also noticed that it seems some of the local jungle cats have began to take an interest in my presence here. Maybe they're interested in what I'm am doing, or perhaps they fancy the idea of having a large fish in slacks for dinner!
