Portazo Island Entry #2

I managed to find a small jungle clearing and decided this would be a good place to begin construction. The ground was a little uneven so I began collecting dirt from the surrounding area, to flatten it out. While collecting the dirt, I noticed a ways off shore, there was an island barely visible on the horizon.

I went back to the clearing and began to fill in the area. I crafted some wooden tools to work with. Better than digging and tearing trees down by hand. As I was working, I found a small hole in the earth. I dug it out a little and saw that there appeared to be a room. Excited, I ran inside.

As I ran in I noticed a pressure plate on the floor just a moment too late. A small hole opened in the wall, letting a small spider out. It came running at me like it hasn't had a bite to eat in years. I quickly drew the wooden sword I had crafted and slew the crazed spider. As I calmed down from the adrenaline rush, I noticed the spider managed to bite me. I was feeling a little woozy and my vision was quickly getting blurry. Still unsure of what else the island would hold I stepped further into this abandoned room, hoping it would be safer than staying outside. After a moment of regaining my breath, I was feeling a little better and my vision was starting to clear. I figured the spider was venomous and decided I should probably figure out some sort of cure for the venom, just in case there were more of these spiders on the island. I started to examine the room around me more carefully. The room was overgrown and full of cobwebs. I looked down and noticed I was sitting on a chest. I opened it up and found some oddly coloured eggs. I grabbed these and began to collect the parts of the trap that was laid for me, hoping that the presumably deceased owner wouldn't mind. I grabbed the dispenser and the pressure plate and noticed it the sun was about to set. Quickly I hammered together a shoddy door and turned this small abandoned room into a safe hideout for the night.
